The Senior Trade Compliance Customs Analyst serves as the primary liaison between the CLS North America Regional Transportation Organization and the Operating Companies for Trade Compliance. This position provides authoritative advice and training to Operating Company partners on processes and procedures to comply with US Customs and Border Protection, FDA and other regulatory compliance agenciesâ governing the clearance of import and export shipments. This role will support the strategic development of new processes, metrics and capabilities to support the NA RTO Trade Compliance Team.
Lead Trade Compliance Projects with Operating Companies
â¢ Partner with Operating Company business partners to review Global Trade Compliance assessments and develop training and compliance improvement plan goals
â¢ Identify and implement Trade Compliance opportunities to participate in duty savings opportunities to include duty drawback, foreign trade zones and free trade agreements
â¢ Utilize Lean for process improvements and standardize across companies where appropriate
â¢ Implement changes to migrate new and existing US J&J companies into Regional Trade Compliance program.
â¢ Implement changes, when required, for legal entity mergers, acquisitions and divestitures
â¢ Create and deliver International Trade Transportation Compliance Training
â¢ Develop Quarterly Trade Compliance reviews by company/sector and deliver to key stakeholders
Manage import and export entry and clearance process
â¢ Determine classification of products and ensure proper payment of duty
â¢ Provide direction to Johnson & Johnson importers and exporters on documentation requirements to comply with Federal government agenciesâ requirements for international shipments
â¢ Establish proactive processes to determine classification of products and ensure proper payment of duty before shipment arrival.
â¢ Maintain the global classification database and J&J internal systems, as required, to communicate product information to freight forwarders and Customs Brokers to transmit import entries.
â¢ Respond to transactional inquiries from customs brokers for products which require additional information to be cleared for importation into the US
â¢ Screen export trade entities to ensure that international customers are screened against the US Denied Parties list to comply with US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC), and the State Department
â¢ Develop corrective action plans for non-conformances
Manage and Monitor communications to respond to Government agency Inquiries
â¢ Respond to US Customs and Border Protection forms CF 28, Request for Information, and CF29 Request for Action
â¢ Serve as liaison between Customs Broker and Regulatory Affairs to resolve FDA holds and Notices of Action until issue resolution
â¢ Report clearance performance and develop strategies to reduce risk of supply chain delays
Trade Compliance Strategies, Capabilities and Metrics
â¢ Identify and support strategic development of new processes, metrics and capabilities to support NA RTO Trade Compliance Team
â¢ Ensure compliance and accurate reporting of key performance metrics for third party reports and dashboards
â¢ Oversight of Trade Compliance monthly and quarterly metrics
â¢ ACE reports subject matter expert
â¢ Minimum of a Bachelorâs Degree or equivalent is required. A Masterâs degree is preferred.
â¢ Minimum of four (4) years of relevant business experience is required
â¢ Minimum of three (3) years of relevant International Logistics and/or Trade Compliance experience is required.
â¢ Licensed Customs Broker and/or Certified Customs Specialist is highly preferred.
â¢ Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
â¢ Experience with Global Trade Management software is preferred.
â¢ SAP experience is preferred.
â¢ Basic MS Office proficiency, specifically with Excel is required.
â¢ Experience working in a highly matrixed, global organization is critical for success.
â¢ Strong partnering experience demonstrated by building new relationships that drive cross-functional process improvements is required.
â¢ Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to functional leaders in upper management and external partners is required.
â¢ Results oriented with strong track record of success in delivering on objectives is required.
â¢ Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment with multiple priorities is required.
â¢ This position is based in Skillman, NJ with consideration for other US-based sites and requires up to 10% domestic travel.
