This is a PSE and G position and as such may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and work schedule during storm/outage restoration efforts. Reporting to an alternate work location may also be required. This position resides in the Operation's Department at Southern Electric Division. Will be required to work and on call schedule and perform the duties of the Division Operations Manager when required.
:Develop and maintain a work environment where the needs and wants of both our internal and external customers are satisfied in a professional and competent manner.
:This includes establishing a good working rapport with governmental officials (i.e. mayors, business administrators, DPW officers, etc.) and residents to address their power concerns.
:Supervise and direct the day:to:day operation of the Distribution and Sub:transmission System, while emphasizing safety, reliability, service restoration, and customer satisfaction.
:Direct the work of Substation Operators, Troubleshooters and Service Dispatchers, and interact with other group/departmental personnel.
:Review and approve requests for equipment and circuit outages. Coordinate this work within and outside the Division. Prepare reports on overtime, workload, manpower requirements and abnormal conditions.
:Make long and short:term schedules to ensure appropriate manpower levels are maintained. Conduct safety training.
:Shift work is required. Resolve customer complaints in the field. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG standards for Business Controls and meet managements expectations for effective internal business controls.
:A minimum of 5 years extensive experience in the operations of the distribution and sub:transmission system.
:High School Degree or equivalent.
:Excellent communication skills.
:Must have obtained an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test within the last two years or must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test.
:Must be knowledgeable in the operation of the Distribution and Sub:transmission System, restoration of service, circuit operations, and safety standards. -
:Because the job requires driving to company locations and off:site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.
:5 years of experience or more as a Substation Operators, Troubleshooters, Service Dispatchers or Electric Distribution Supervisor.
:For those who have previously taken and received an acceptable score on the FLST but who are not presently and directly supervising represented associates, test results will be valid for a maximum period of two years from the date the test was taken. Acceptable test results exceeding the two year period (for those applicants not presently and directly supervising represented associates) cannot be used in bidding on or applying for a first line supervisory position for which the test was validated. Safety sensitive position : D.O.T. testing required.
