Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. is recruiting for a US Leader, Shopper Insights & Category Management located in Skillman, NJ.

The US Leader, Shopper Insights & Category Management, sets strategic direction for Shopper Insights and Category Management (SI/CM) for the Consumer sector. The incumbent provides functional direction and support to the SI/CM professionals in the internal Business Units (BUs) and field-based Customer teams who develop customer, category and/or shopper insights and category strategies that result in optimal shipment sales, market share and conversion; while elevating company thought leadership and partnership with key customers. The incumbent is responsible for developing tools, processes and resources that support the category/brand-specific business opportunities, innovation, platforms and 4P strategies and tactics. The incumbent sets the overall company direction for Shopper research that delivers deep insights and go-to-market strategies to achieve business objectives. The incumbent applies expertise across multiple BUs, customers, categories and brands as it relates to category/brand-specific strategies that result in achievement of business goals for J&J and customers. The incumbent participates in special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Demonstrates expertise and credibility in shopper and category understanding internally and is leveraged as a leadership expert with our customers
• Develops solution-focused activities that leverage the scale of J&J portfolio and provides insights into platform work such as Mom’s/Babies, Health & Wellness, Beauty, etc.
• Develops next generation, future-focused resources to elevate SI/CM capabilities within J&J and across the Consumer Goods industry, while addressing most pressing business issues and opportunities
• Partners with key stakeholders to determine insight and analytical strategic priorities, key initiatives, and guiding principles for a category or business segment; communicates these to team to enable them to devise go-to-market plans for customers and/or categories as assigned
• Collaborates with the teams in reviewing and translating consumer, shopper and category insights into actionable strategies, while ensuring alignment between company and customer goals and objectives
• Develops SI/CM best practices and ensures they are shared across the broader customer and J&J teams
• Demonstrates expertise in understanding our customers’ business and shopper strategies and priorities, as well as activation vehicles
• Represents the “voice of customer” and shopper for both internal and customer teams
• Partners with GSIA and internal teams execute Shopper research and works to ensure alignment on category growth stories and vision of the brands
• Leads the SI/CM North America Center of Excellence, comprised of internal and field-based professionals
• Contributes to the talent and performance management of SI/CM community, while identifying and helping develop top-potential individuals who can fill the succession planning needs of the company in the future
• Aligns the goals of team members with the needs of the team and broader organization and achieves the OGSM
• Delivers and manages financial commitments to the company and customer, and complies with company policy and procedures at all times.

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• A minimum of 6 years’ prior experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods environment required.
• Category management and/or shopper insights function experience required.
• Prior management experience preferred.
• Proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at top to top levels, both internally and externally required.
• Expertise in accessing, assessing, interpreting, and drawing accurate conclusions from sales, customer, and shopper data is required.
• E-category management is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, complex matrix, changing environment.
• Advanced analytical skills and the ability to conduct consumer research, including devising questionnaires, writing queries in database programs, developing reports and analyzing complex data to develop conclusions is required.
• Advanced computer skills with ability to create, manipulate, revise and modify data, documents, presentations, and spreadsheets is required.
• Ability to manage the talent and performance management process of reporting staff; ability to coach, train, and develop reporting staff to increase bench strength of the organization is required.
• This position is located in Skillman, NJ and may require up to 25% or more travel time.
