## Recruitment/Posting Title
Research Associate - Center for Computational Design of Functional Strongly Correlated Materials and Theoretical Spectroscopy
## Posting Summary
The Center for Computational Design of Functional Strongly Correlated Materials and Theoretical Spectroscopy is a multi-institutional effort involving Rutgers University in partnership with Brookhaven National Laboratories with scientists at several other institutions such as; University of Virginia, University of Tennessee and Iowa National Laboratories.
Our goal is to develop and disseminate methodologies (theory, algorithms, and codes) to accurately describe the physical properties of complex strongly correlated electron materials, and demonstrate its usefulness through materials specific studies of strongly correlated electron systems.
Launched in September 2016, the Center for Computational Design of Functional Strongly Correlated Materials and Theoretical Spectroscopy builds on several decades of research carried out at Rutgers University involving the development of electronic structure methods for treating strongly correlated materials. The center aims to accelerate scientific progress in materials research by enabling theoretical spectroscopy and theoretically guided material design in strongly correlated electron systems.
We are looking for a candidate to fill a Research Associate position. The candidate will be responsible for carrying out independent scientific research, supervising students, and collaborating with other scientists at the center in interpretation and design of experiments, and on software development. The candidate will assist the Director in identifying and developing grant opportunities, administration of these grants, evaluating the progress of the center, reporting and disseminating its progress, products and achievements, as well as identifying new scientific and strategic directions of the center.
Of particular interest are scientists with multidisciplinary experts in fields which include; large-scale electronic structure code development (including density functional theory, ab initio GW, dynamical mean-field theory, Gutzwiller), as well as numerical simulation of strongly correlated electron models and materials, and software engineering. Applications from excellent candidates with other approaches to the strongly correlated electronic systems are welcome. Administration experience is a plus and a Ph.D. in Physics is required.
This position will be based at Rutgers University and will involve active communications with other scientists working on strongly correlated materials at other institutions.
